Dental Implants Ringwood

What are Dental Implants?

Zest Dental offers quality dental implants in Ringwood. Dental implants are pieces of metal like titanium or other materials that are placed where the roots of missing teeth were located. As time passes, bone will grow around these implants and help hold them in position.

The gaps left by a missing teeth are filled by an artificial tooth or crown attached to the pieces of metal placed into the jaw. These replacements will be made to be closest in size, shape, and colour of the surrounding teeth.

Dentures and a dental bridge may also be held by dental implants.

When Do You Need a Dental Implant?

A dental implant may be a good option for you if you have one or more missing teeth as long as you –

  • Have a fully grown and healthy jawbone,
  • Do not have any signs of gum disease, and/or
  • Do not have conditions that will affect the healing of your bone.

We will explain all aspects pertaining to the procedure and answer all questions that you might have.

What Happens During a Dental Implant Surgery Procedure?

A dental implant and aesthetics procedure is done in multiple stages across a number of months which will include a series of minor operations and tests.

  • Initially, we will do x-rays and scans to get a clear picture of where we need to place the implant.
  • We will then fit the dental implant into your jawbone. An anaesthetic will be used so you will not feel any pain during the procedure.
  • After this, we will wait for a few months for bone to grow around your dental implant.
  • When we determine that your implant is stable, we will then build the foundation for your new tooth or teeth.
  • We will then take a mould of your mouth so we can make your artificial tooth or teeth.
  • Lastly, your artificial tooth or teeth will be screwed or cemented into the foundation.

The process will be gradual and deliberate and will take multiple visits, scans, and minor operations.

What Are Alternatives To Dental Implants?

You may choose to wear dentures or have a dental bridge instead. The difference is that dental implants will look and feel like your own teeth and will not affect the quality of your other teeth.
